Medical Oncology 610-270-2700 Radiation Oncology 610-270-2192
Montgomery was one of the first community hospitals in the region to provide on-site radiation oncology. Our Cancer Center, celebrating it's 30th year, offers comprehensive cancer care.
The Cancer Center has treated more than 9,000 cancer patients since opening in 1977. Each year, more than 1,000 cancer patients receive treatment at Montgomery, a rate that increases approximately 5% each year. Breast cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer treated (20%), followed by lung (14%), colorectal (13.5%), prostate (12%) and other cancers.
Montgomery offers a full spectrum of oncology services including medical, surgical and radiation oncology, genetic cancer risk assessment and support groups. As a community hospital, Montgomery is also able to offer convenient access to rehabilitation, pastoral care, nutritional support, home care and hospice services to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our patients and their families. The Cancer Center has been accredited by the American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer since 1980.
The Cancer Center is housed in the Hospital's Professional Building, across the street from the main Hospital. Radiation oncology and medical oncology are on-site, as are support groups and group education sessions. A 24-member committee guides operation of the Cancer Center, chaired by Estella F. Graeffe, M.D., director of Radiation Oncology and William Biermann, M.D., a medical oncologist whose practice is located on site.
