Wellness and Support Programs

Montgomery Hospital sponsors a variety of wellness programs and support groups as a service to the community. These groups include:

Arthritis Aquatics Program meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Call 610-270-2400.

Bereavement Support
Home Care & Hospice, 25 W. Fornance St., Norristown, holds 6-week sessions periodically throughout the year. Call 610-313-5015.

Breast Health Education Sessions
Oncology nurse specialist Joanne Cipollini, M.S.N., facilitates free sessions on the importance of breast self-exam and mammography. If you have a group interested in taking advantage of this important community service, call Joanne at 610-270-2703.

Cancer Support Groups
A variety of support groups for such topics as breast cancer, general cancer and prostate cancer meet at various times during the month. For more information on these groups and others, call 610-270-2703.

Cardiac Exercise Maintenance Program meets frequently throughout the week. Call 610-270-2002.

Childbirth Education Classes
The maternity department at MHMC offers childbirth education sessions, refresher classes, breastfeeding and sibling classes for new and expectant parents and siblings. All parents are invited to participate in the classes, including those who are delivering elsewhere. For more information on maternity services or classes, call 610-270-2020.

CPAP Support Group (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Device) meets the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. The sessions take place in the Sleep Lab, located in room 610 on the sixth floor of the hospital. This group provides opportunities to talk with the technical staff, share helpful hints, meet other CPAP users, voice concerns and make new friends. Complimentary parking and refreshments. CPR & First Aid courses are offered for everyone from the novice to the advanced practitioner. For times and locations, call 610-270-2313.

The Diabetes Education Center Certified by the American Diabetes Association, convenient day and evening classes are offered three times each month. The 10-hour course is facilitated by a certified diabetes educator and teaches diabetic patients about proper nutrition, exercise, medications and how to monitor blood sugar.  Individualized consultations for monitoring blood sugar, beginning insulin and nutrition are also available.  Your health insurance pays for diabetes education classes. Pre-registration is required. Call 610-270-2301.

Laryngectomy Support Group, the "Let's Talk Club" meets the second Thursday of each month in the Cancer Center Conference Room, located on the third floor of the Montgomery Hospital Professional Building. For more information, call 610-270-2394.

Pulmonary Rehab Exercise Maintenance Program meets frequently throughout the week. Call 610-270-2002.

Smoking Cessation
Montgomery Hospital offers the American Lung Association's Freedom From Smoking program. Specially trained facilitators provide smokers with a comprehensive behavior modification oriented program. This eight-week program provides a step-by-step plan for quitting smoking in a supportive, interactive group setting. Call 610-270-2001.

Weight Management Program meets on a regular basis. Call 610-270-2002 for specific times and locations.
