Montgomery Hospital's three-phase Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to help you live a full, satisfying life while you effectively manage your heart disease. This comprehensive program begins while you are still in the hospital and helps you transition to a healthier lifestyle at home through a combination of exercise, diet and education. Our program is staffed by experienced and supportive medical professionals who provide personalized attention and encouragement as you go forward.

Phase I of our service is directed to patients admitted to the hospital because of a cardiac episode. Inpatients on our telemetry unit are interviewed and their questions about heart disease and treatment options are answered. Risks presented by smoking and a poor diet are discussed, as well as the benefits of exercise and stress reduction. We will take time to learn about your needs at home and help with ambulation issues.

Phase II of our cardiac services focus on outpatients and stress Exercise and Education. Our traditional 12-week program can be tailored to fit your schedule. Patients meet three times a week to utilize Montgomery's Rehabilitation Center, located in the Hospital's Professional Building for activities such as rowing, bicycling, running and swimming with activity guided by a trained cardiac nurse.

Phase III services are meant to maintain healthy habits. The Cardiac Maintenance Program at Montgomery Hospital is the largest of its kind in the area. Our facilities include an impressive 17,000 foot fitness center and a 25-meter lap pool. Designed to promote long-term lifestyle changes, Cardiac maintenance can continue indefinitely on a flexible schedule. A nominal fee provides full use of our facilities. Many insurance programs will reimburse some or all of the costs of this program.
