Advancing technology, increased knowledge and changing attitudes have made one-day surgery more popular than ever. Montgomery Hospital Medical Center opened its Surgical Short Stay Unit (SSSU) in 1979 - one of the first local hospitals to do so. Today, nearly 70 percent of all surgical patients will use SSSU.
Prior to visiting the SSSU for a procedure your physician may request several tests by completed. These tests will be performed during your pre-admission testing visit. Pre-admission testing (PAT) can last from one to three hours and may involve fasting. Check with your physician or with the PAT office (610)270-2220 for any requirements.
